What's changed
Changes to how Dansly behaves that a school would notice, newest first, with the help pages they affect.
For owners, managers and teachers
Changes to how Dansly behaves, as a school would notice them. Each one links to the page that explains it now.
Going live and your team#
- Going live checks the whole list. Go live is refused while anything on the checklist that holds it back is still open: not only a published class and payouts, but also your styles, the street of your main building, and the pages you confirm. See Go-live checklist.
- Only owners and managers put a dancer in a class by hand. Teachers never invite dancers directly, and there's no setting for it any more. Use Add dancer on a class, or on a course's Who is in page. See Team.
- No more Paused badge on Members. A late drop-out no longer pauses anyone's fill-in requests. See Members.
Your school's page#
- Owners and managers who teach count as teachers. Anyone on your staff who's on the teacher list of a published open class or course, or who teaches a date by hand, now shows under Teachers on your school's page and in the app. Before, only people with the teacher role did, so a school its owners teach said "0 on the team". See Team.
Refunds#
- You can cancel a running course. It refunds members the share for the weeks that won't run, unless you untick it. See Course editor.
- Cancelling one date asks first, says what it undoes, and lets you keep the money. See Cancel one date.
- Removing someone who paid can refund them, straight from the dialog. For a block, it's the weeks still to come. See Manage course people.
- Dancers can leave a block themselves inside your block cancellation window, and are refunded. See Cancellations.
- Dancers can read your refund rules on one page, linked from every place that mentions a refund.
- A failed refund is reported in the confirmation, so you know to refund it from the dancer's page under Members.
- Refund from a member's page, any amount up to what they paid, and take them out of the class or block at the same time if you want to. See Members.
- Dancers are emailed about every refund, once the money has actually gone back.
The dancer side, rebuilt to match the phone app#
- A new menu for dancers: Home, Agenda, Courses, Fill-ins, Payments and Profile. Agenda replaces Book and Calendar: the school's classes week by week, with your own marked.
- Booking happens in a sheet. Tap a class, pick Lead or Follow if it asks, and choose Book (or Count me in when it's free). When a class can't be booked, the button is greyed out and a sentence under it says why, such as "You have used your classes for this week." No plan this month? The sheet offers See the plans. See Nobody can book this class.
- Missing a course week can now be done from the class itself: I cannot make this week → Notify absence. The course page's Can't come works as before. See Missing a class.
- The calendar link moved to Profile → Copy calendar link.
Events and tickets#
- Parties are events. Kind of evening is now Class, Workshop or Event; every social became an event. An event has no roles, style, level or teachers, and is sold per ticket or free. See Event editor.
- Prices that change: an early bird by date, or cheaper first tickets. See Event editor.
- Tickets for people who don't dance with you, up to ten per buyer, by email and on a ticket page. See G17: Sell tickets to a party.
- A door that scans tickets. See Let people in at the door.
- Events aren't refunded unless you tick it on the event.
- Ending a class or event asks first, says what it cancels, and refunds anyone who paid unless you untick it. See Stop or extend a recurring class.
- A one-off on any day of the week gets its date. A one-off whose day didn't match the hidden Day field used to be published with no date at all.
- The sidebar item Open classes is now Classes & events.
With the help centre#
These came out of checking every help page against the app.
Classes and dates#
- A stand-in teacher stays on their date. Putting someone else on one evening with Edit this date used to be undone the next time the course or open class was saved. Now it stays until you change that date again. See Change one date.
- A running open class's end only moves later. Pick a later Runs until, or tick No end date, and saving makes the dates in between. An earlier one is refused, and End class is how it stops. Before, an earlier end date was saved, but dates already made after it stayed on sale. See Stop or extend a recurring class.
- Changing the day or time of a running open class no longer makes a second set of dates. Those fields are now fixed once the class runs. See Changed a class but this date didn't move.
- Classes with no end date keep going. They used to stop after six months. Dates are now kept six months ahead of today.
Courses#
- Solo courses show their dancers. A course with Solo work — no leads and follows lists everyone in one column on Who is in and on each evening's roster. Both used to look empty. See A solo course.
- Someone added mid-block starts from that week. They used to appear, unmarked, on the registers of weeks that had already happened, and the teacher was sent a reminder about a register that was long closed. A newcomer who enrolled after their try-out no longer appears twice on week 1. See Manage course people.
- Minimum experience is gone from the course editor. Nothing used it. Say who a course suits with No experience needed up to on the level list. See Styles and levels.
- Try-out choices on a published course now save. See Course editor.
Paying and booking#
- Plans allowed is enforced. A class that lists only some plans now refuses the others: the dancer is told "Your plan does not include this class." Before, any plan could book. See Open-class editor.
- A no-show keeps the credit spent. Marking someone absent after the class has started no longer returns their credit. Marking them absent before the start still does. See Take attendance.
- A class your school cancels refunds paid try-outs, and the newcomer can book another try-out. See Cancel one date.
Fill-ins#
- Off means off. A class or course with fill-ins switched off never asks, including when someone is marked absent. The open-class option "Always on" is gone: it couldn't work while the school's own switch was off. See Fill-in rules.
Your team#
- Only the owner decides who is a manager: inviting one, promoting someone, or changing or removing a manager. See Team.
- Teachers can only export the rosters of classes they teach.
Smaller things#
- The add-dancer list shows experience in words ("a year in"), not as a code.
- A dancer holding a seat in a block sees that block in their sidebar, not "No plan yet".
- Tonight's "dancers expected" counts solo courses and events too.
