Stop or extend a recurring class

End a weekly open class, add more dates to it, switch it to no end date, or run an ended class again. What happens to dates that are already booked.

For owners and managers

A weekly or every-other-week open class runs until its end date, or keeps going if it has No end date. This page covers changing that once it's running. For courses, which always have a fixed number of weeks, see Course editor.

Where: Classes & events → the class.
Who: owners and managers.

While a class is running#

Its Day, Start, How long, repeat and Runs from are greyed out. The editor explains: "Day, time, length and repeat are fixed once the class is running, and the end date can only move later."

You change how long it runs in two ways: a later Runs until to add dates, End class to stop.

Add more dates#

In When it runs, on the class itself:

  • pick a later date under Runs until, or
  • tick No end date,

then Save. The app confirms how many new lessons it made: "Saved. 8 more lessons are on the schedule." An earlier date is refused: "The end date can only move later". New dates start after the last date the class already has. Dates are never added in the past, and dates you've moved or cancelled stay as they are.

With No end date, Dansly keeps dates six months ahead of today and adds more every day. It keeps going until you end the class.

Stop a class#

End class (End event on an event) in the top bar. It asks first, End this class?, and says what it will undo:

  • how many dates still to come come off the schedule: those nobody has booked are removed, and those with bookings are cancelled with the reason "This class has ended.";
  • how many places are cancelled, on how many dates. Everyone holding one is told;
  • if people paid money, a tick Refund the €…, on by default: the money goes back to their cards straight away. Untick it only if you'll sort it out another way; they're then told to get in touch about the payment.

Credits always come back, whatever you choose. Past dates stay, with their registers.

Keep it running backs out. The button that ends it reads End the class, End it and refund €… or End it without refunding. The app then confirms, for example "Ended. 12 future dates removed; 3 refunds sent; booked dancers were told." The class is now Ended.

Stop it at a later date#

There's no "end after this date" on a running class. For example, to stop a weekly class after 19 December:

  • End class after its last evening, or
  • cancel the dates after 19 December one by one; see Cancel one date.

A summer break#

To pause for a few weeks and carry on, cancel the dates in the break one by one. The class keeps running either side, with the same bookings rules. There's no automatic holiday skipping.

Ending the class and running it again later also works, but anyone who booked a date in the break is cancelled and told.

Run an ended class again#

Open the ended class. Its end date can be edited again: pick a new Runs until, or tick No end date, then choose Run again. It's Running again, with dates from today.

To run it on a different evening or time, create a new open class instead.
