Teaching in two buildings
Set up a second address, give each its own rooms and directions, put classes in the right one, and move a single evening across town.
For owners and managers
Studio Voorbeeld teaches at De Loods, its main building, and at Zaal Noord across town. Both have a room called "Room 1". Dancers need to know which building tonight's class is in, and a newcomer needs directions to the right door. This guide sets that up.
Who: owners and managers.
1. Add the second building#
School → Where dancers turn up → + Add a building.
- Building name: "Zaal Noord". It's shown on every class taught there.
- City, Street and number, Postcode, Floor or entrance.
- Show this address publicly: leave it on, unless the address shouldn't be on your public page (a studio at someone's home, say). Members still see it either way.
- Getting here: tram, parking, bike racks. Opening hours if useful.
- A first evening here: what a newcomer can expect, moment by moment. Directions differ per building, so write this for each.
- Add building.
It opens with one room, Room 1. Rename it or add more under Rooms here. Rooms save as you type.
Full details: Buildings and rooms.
2. Choose the main building#
Your main building leads on your public page, and new classes start out there. Open the building you want and choose Make this the main building.
3. Put each class in the right place#
In each course and open class, the Room list groups rooms under their building. Pick the right one.
Once you have two buildings, your schedule, rosters and registers show a room with its building: "Zaal Noord · Room 1". Dancers see which building each class is in.
The checks in the editor warn you when two classes share a room at the same time. Rooms in different buildings never clash, even with the same name.
4. Move one evening to the other building#
Zaal Noord is closed on 14 October, so that Thursday's class moves to De Loods:
- Open the lesson → Edit this date.
- Room: pick De Loods · Room 2.
- Save.
Everyone booked and the teachers are told, and the notice names the new building: "Salsa · Beginners 2 has moved building". Only that date moves. See Change one date.
Moving a whole class#
Changing the room on the course or open class moves every future date, and tells everyone booked on one, and a course's members, with the old and the new room. Their place is kept.
Removing a building#
You can remove a building that isn't your main one once nothing on the schedule uses it: its classes have ended and no date is still to come there. Past dates keep their registers, and stop saying where they were. See Buildings and rooms.
