A trial participant can't join
Someone took a try-out and now can't enrol in the block. Their private window, held and unheld seats, a no-show, and how to put them in by hand.
For owners and managers
After a week-one try-out, enrolment for everybody else has usually closed: it closes when the block starts. A newcomer who tried the class gets their own window to join, set by Days to decide under Try-out classes. When they can't join, it's one of these.
Find them under Members → Tried a class. The line under their plan says where they are.
| They see, or Members says | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Enrolment has closed for this block." | Their window has ended. It's counted from the date of their try-out class, not from when they paid. | Add them by hand (below). |
| Same, straight after the try-out | Days to decide is None: the try-out is a taster only. | Add them by hand, and consider giving newcomers some days. |
| booked …, never came | Marked absent at the try-out. A no-show gets no window. | If they did come, correct the register; see Take attendance. Or add them by hand. |
| "This course is full for leads." | Their seat wasn't held (Leave it on sale), and the block sold out. | Add them by hand. It raises the cap for the block. |
| "You already have a seat in this course." | They've joined already. | Nothing. They're under tried …, then joined. |
Held seats#
With Hold their seat while they decide, their seat is kept until the window ends, and they're listed on the course's Who is in page under Deciding after a try-out: "Tried the class · seat kept until 30 Sept 2026". If they don't enrol by then, the seat is released and goes back on sale.
Each course can override the school's choice, under While they decide whether to join in the course editor.
What they pay#
The full block price. With Counts toward the block on and a paid try-out, the try-out price comes off, once, for that same block. There's no discount for weeks already gone.
Add them by hand#
On the course's Who is in page, Add dancer:
- Put them in — free, or
- Open a place they pay for, leaving the price blank to charge what they'd have paid themselves (including the try-out price coming off), or typing an amount.
If the block is full, confirm Add anyway; the cap goes up by one for every week. See G08: Add a dancer.
