A one-off workshop or social

Set up a single Saturday workshop with its own price, or a free social night. Which kind to choose and what each one changes.

For owners and managers

A workshop, a party or a special evening happens once. In Dansly it's an open class that runs One-off: one date, booked on its own.

Where: Classes & events → New open class, or New class → New open class.
Who: owners and managers.

Choose the kind#

Kind of evening changes how the class behaves:

EventNoneHow many people fit, or no limitNeverA party, a practica, a social, a show.

An event has no roles, so nobody picks lead or follow. It also has no style, level or teachers, is sold per ticket or free, and can be open to people who don't dance with you. For a party you sell tickets to, see G17: Sell tickets to a party.

Example: a Saturday workshop#

Studio Voorbeeld runs a Bachata sensual workshop, one Saturday at 14:00 in Zaal Noord, €25.

  1. Name: "Bachata sensual workshop". Kind of evening: Workshop. Style: Bachata. Level: Any level, or a step.
  2. Room: Zaal Noord · Room 1. Teachers: Samir.
  3. How many of each role: 10. How long: 120 minutes.
  4. When it runs: One-off, Start 14:00, Date the Saturday.
  5. How it's paid for: Per class, Price (€) 25.
  6. Opens (days before, under the booking window): raise it, say to 30, so people can book well ahead. It starts at 14.
  7. Publish.

The line under the schedule confirms: "That's 1 lesson, … ".

Example: a free social#

Friday social, every other Friday at 21:00 in De Loods, free:

  1. Kind of evening: Event. Leave How many people fit empty for no limit.
  2. When it runs: Every other week, No end date.
  3. How it's paid for: Free.
  4. Publish.

A one-off social works the same way with One-off. An event can't be priced in credits: it's Per event or Free.

How to charge#

ChoiceDancers
Per class (Per event on an event)Pay the price when they book. Discount codes for Single visits apply.
CreditsClasses and workshops only. Spend credits from their plan. Needs at least one plan for sale.
FreeBook for nothing.

A workshop can be priced per class even if your usual classes use credits. Credit plans don't cover it then.

What else to know#

  • Try-outs: if your school offers try-outs on open classes, a workshop can be someone's try-out. To stop that, choose No try-outs here on it. An event never is.
  • Catch-ups: workshops and events are never catch-up destinations.
  • Cancellation: your school's usual window applies to a workshop. An event has its own refund switch, off by default; see Event editor.
  • Cancelling the whole thing: open its date → Edit this date → Cancel this date. Everyone is told, and refunded unless you untick the refund. See Cancel one date.
  • To run the same workshop again on another date, create a new one-off.
